Wedding invitation, envelope, details card and matching RSVP with calligraphy lettering

These semi-custom wedding invitations with calligraphy elements were inspired by my love of all things classic and timeless which can be summed up with my trips to France.

They consist of everything you need for a beautifully elegant invitation suite that will excite your guests of what’s to come as well as being something luxurious to treasure. Included are a Save the Date, Main Invitation, Details Card, Location Map and RSVP, and your day-of stationery can also match with Printed Menus, Calligraphy Name Cards, Table Signs and all the trimmings.

These printed wedding invites are available as a set or you can pick and choose different pieces to suit, all whilst I hold your hand along the way, making this an easy and enjoyable process.

The Inspiration

As a child, France was a frequent holiday destination, dreamt up by my mum poring over maps that covered the lounge floor, then carried out by my Dad driving for hours in the relentless heat - without the luxury of air conditioning.

A car full of clothes, sleeping bags, people and pillows, a comfortable journey it was not, but it didn’t matter. It was an adventure, a long-awaited holiday with a new land to discover…not to mention crusty French bread and melt-in-the-mouth croissants.

These days, I feel right at home in France, despite my French being embarrassingly awful, making visits as often as I can to the Southwest region of the Charente Maritime.

The place that pulls at my heart and was at the forefront of my mind whilst designing this stationery was the location of Talmont-sur-Gironde which sits on the coast looking out to the Medoc.

This walled Romanesque village, built in the 11th Century, looks out to a breathtaking sea view and contains quaint, shuttered homes, artists studios, bijou gift shops, restaurants and creperies, all linked by winding paths which in Summer, are lined with colourful bursts of towering hollyhocks.

The stone church of Sainte-Radegonde takes centre stage with its domed roofs and limestone walls that tells it own story of how the sea and sky have shaped it’s facade. In high-season, the village is lit up once a week with flickering tea lights all around the Fort, casting a romantic and dreamy atmosphere to stroll though.

It was easy to get swept away dreaming of sunset boat rides, visiting hidden coves along with wine tasting and sampling the local seafood as part of a weekend destination wedding celebration. The location and what it has to offer really pulls at the heartstrings.

Place is such an important part of who we are which is why the location and venue of where my couples choose to get married plays such a key part in my designs. Stony colours and textures are paired with smooth surfaces that reflect the land and the sea to bring together this coastal-inspired invitation suite.

The moodboard

What draws me so much to this part of the world is it’s lasting nature and fresh clean feel. Timeless and classic, lasting without being dated and cliche. To me, that’s the core of what’s elegant and the French do it so well.

Talmont still has the charm that I first fell in love with all those years ago and that’s my intention with this invitation set; for it to stand the test of time physically (which is why it’s printed onto archival paper) but also to survive in it’s essence and what it means. These invitations aren’t of the print-me-quick then chuck-me-away variety, but are to be treasured and held dear for now and in time to come.
