THE INSPIRATION FOR A WINTER WEDDING

Now is the perfect time of year to share with you this white and gold winter wedding feasting table and accompanying wedding stationery that was created last Christmas.

With an angelic theme, it had an old-world look that’s full of festive warmth and charm that’s entirely heartwarming.

It was set in the magical Bishop’s Palace that’s nestled in the heart of Wells, Somerset that’s stood for over 800 years. Its historical scenery and swan-studded moat set the scene for a welcoming and luxurious event that comes into it’s own during the winter months.

Gold and white wedding table decor

This wintery look was dreamt up and styled together by very talented Chloe from Kennedy Weddings and Events:

I decided upon white and gold for my inspiration and this came from the ceiling, yes that’s right! It’s a beautiful cream colour gilded with a subtle gold. Each year I have picked out a festive theme and this soft white instantly made me think of angels.

An understated gold table runner, crystal glasses and gilded angels adorned the table which was softened by calligraphy in the form of hand torn scrolls by Mirabelle Makery. Whenever I show Charlotte a design board, she just seems to understand my vision so easily and will take every idea I have and take it to another level with her exquisite work.

THE CALLIGRAPHY INVITATIONS AND WEDDING DAY DETAILS

The wedding stationery and calligraphy was bespoke-made to suit the setting of the venue and theme giving a cohesive aesthetic. It featured a full calligraphy invitation and reply card on soft white paper along with a wax sealed envelope.

For the table decor, an oversize calligraphy menu and individual name scrolls served as place settings - triumphant messages from the angels! Gold leaf details featured in abundance to add an angelic and luxurious touch. Even the calligraphy nib didn’t escape the gold-leaf treatment.

The vast feasting table was tastefully decorated with warm whites and golden hues from candle arbours and vintage glassware to ethereal dried flower arrangements and angelic figurines. The stars of the show had to be the three beautifully decorated tiered cakes that were adorned with delicate sugar flowers and frosty textures.

The calligraphy style that was calling for this suite was Camille - one of my four hands offered for bespoke and semi-custom stationery. It’s inspired by vintage French postcards and correspondence that has an old world yet free-flowing and modern feel that felt just right.

There’s something about that handwritten look at Christmas time that makes me think of letters to and from Santa, full of promise and hope that fits so well at this time of year.
